Role Overview
A proactive accountancy firm specialising in the provision of accountancy, audit, and taxation services to a wide-ranging client base is seeking an Accounts and Audit Senior. The firm provides director-led business advice that goes beyond purely financial aspects, focusing closely on maximising value for clients. This role involves working with a diverse portfolio of privately owned businesses, including family companies, business associates, and private-equity-backed firms predominantly based across Yorkshire and the North East of England.
Key Tasks and Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Preparation and production of statutory accounts and tax computations from client records for Limited companies, Sole Traders, Partnerships, and LLPs.
Leading and planning on-site audits, ensuring field work is completed accurately, efficiently, and within designated timeframes.
Acting as a main point of contact for clients during audit processes, resolving queries, and managing expectations.
Reviewing financial documents, working papers, and reports prepared by junior members of the team.
Providing guidance, training, and ongoing mentorship to trainees and junior colleagues.
Assisting directors with various ad-hoc technical projects and specialised client assignments.
Key Skills and Essential Criteria
ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent experience within a public practice environment).
Strong technical background in both UK GAAP accounting standards and statutory audit procedures.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to build immediate rapport with clients and senior directors alike.
Proven capability to self-manage workloads, multitask, and successfully lead junior team members on-site.
Proficiency in modern cloud accounting software and audit tracking platforms.
